Easy High-Protein Breakfast Ideas (Meal Prep Friendly)

Sep 28, 2026

Collage of 4 pictures of high protein breakfasts. Apple pie overnight oats, blueberry overnight oats, blueberry greek yogurt bagels, and regular greek yogurt bagels.

Busy mornings don’t leave a lot of room for a big breakfast, which is exactly why I lean on high-protein, meal-prep-friendly recipes so heavily. These four are the ones on repeat in my kitchen — they’re budget-friendly, they hold up in the fridge all week, and they actually keep me full until lunch. Whether you’re prepping for work, school, or just don’t want to think about breakfast at 7am, this list has you covered.

Now, I know certain ingredients I use are not considered “budget-friendly” upfront. Protein powder can be $16-40 for a tub, and nice greek yogurt isn’t cheap either. That being said, the protein powder contains 25-30 servings. Most of the time. So it is essetially adding around a dollar per meal you use it in. But, if a $25 tub of protein powder helps keep me full and stops me from buying a $3-4 snack every time I am at school or work, it saves me money in the long run.

There are so many ways to make high-protein breakfast recipes without protein powder if it doesn’t fit in your budget. A store brand tub of nonfat greek yogurt can add so much protein to overnight oats (like in the apple pie overnight oats below). It is truly up to you and your budget on how you access the protein you need. But below are some great recipes that keep me satisfied all morning without a fast-food breakfast sandwich run.

1/4 |  Apple Pie Overnight Oats

High-Protein Apple Pie Overnight Oats

21.5 grams of protein per serving

A cozy, naturally sweetened take on overnight oats that tastes like dessert but is built for real mornings — just mix it the night before and it’s ready when you wake up.

You don’t have to use apples, I have used peaches in the summer, and it turns this fall breakfast recipe into a summer cobbler dream. All while being full of healthy ingredients and protein.

2/4 |  Blueberry Protein Overnight Oats

High-Protein Apple Pie Overnight Oats

31 grams of protein per serving

A fruitier, protein-boosted spin on the classic — blueberries and a scoop of protein make this one feel like a treat while keeping you full for hours. Almond milk, banana, chia seeds, and cinnamon all give these oats a great flavor while still hitting your protein goals.

3/4 |  High-Protein Greek Yogurt Bagels

High-Protein Apple Pie Overnight Oats

20 grams of protein for two bagels

The plain, versatile version of the bagel recipe below — perfect with eggs, light cream cheese, peanut butter, or whatever you’ve got in the fridge, and just as freezer-friendly.

4/4 |  Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bagels

High-Protein Apple Pie Overnight Oats

16 grams of protein for two bagels

For mornings when you want something more substantial than oats, these bagels pack protein right into the dough — no boiling required, and they freeze well for grab-and-go mornings.

Swap out the blueberries for cinnamon sugar, everything bagel seasoning, or whatever else you’d like! This bagel recipe is very customizable and easy to try different flavor combinations with.

Meal prep tips

  • How far ahead can I make these? Overnight oats keep well in the fridge for up to 4–5 days in individual jars. Bagels can be made ahead and frozen for up to 2–3 months — just thaw or toast from frozen.
  • Best way to store overnight oats: individual mason jars or airtight containers, so breakfast is grab-and-go all week.
  • Reheating bagels: straight from the freezer into the toaster works great — no need to thaw first.
